About the role

Compensation: USD 85–110/hour (1099)

We are looking for a Senior Data Scientist & Product Manager to lead the strategy, development, and delivery of Computer Vision solutions for a leading organization in the Retail and Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) industry.

This role combines hands-on technical leadership in Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, and Computer Vision with product ownership. You will help define the product vision, roadmap, and priorities while driving the development of image recognition solutions and AI-powered applications that deliver measurable business outcomes.

You will collaborate with engineering and data science teams, business stakeholders, and external technology partners to deliver scalable AI products from concept through production.

Responsibilities

  • We are looking for a Senior Data Scientist & Product Manager to lead the strategy, development, and delivery of Computer Vision solutions for a leading organization in the Retail and Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) industry.
  • This role combines hands-on technical leadership in Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, and Computer Vision with product ownership. You will help define the product vision, roadmap, and priorities while driving the development of image recognition solutions and AI-powered applications that deliver measurable business outcomes.
  • You will collaborate with engineering and data science teams, business stakeholders, and external technology partners to deliver scalable AI products from concept through production.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience in Data Science or Machine Learning, including at least 3 years working with Computer Vision.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Python and Computer Vision frameworks such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, and OpenCV.
  • Experience designing, developing, and optimizing Computer Vision and Image Recognition solutions.
  • Strong knowledge of the complete Machine Learning lifecycle, including model training, validation, deployment, monitoring, and optimization.
  • Proven experience leading AI/ML projects from concept through production.
  • Experience as a Product Owner or Product Manager for AI/ML products, including roadmap definition, prioritization, and product delivery.
  • Experience with Microsoft Azure, Databricks, APIs, SDKs, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud-native architectures.
  • Experience working with rules engines, business logic frameworks, and data platforms.
  • Ability to define product KPIs, evaluate model performance, and translate technical results into business outcomes.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to collaborate with technical and business teams.
  • Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and take ownership of technical and product deliverables.
  • Proactive mindset, with the ability to identify opportunities, propose improvements, and drive initiatives to completion.
  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Availability to work onsite in Atlanta, Georgia (northeast of Downtown), three days per week.
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States without requiring sponsorship.

Nice to have

  • Experience with Image Recognition solutions in Retail, CPG, or Supply Chain environments.
  • Familiarity with Generative AI, foundation models, and emerging AI technologies.
  • Experience collaborating with external technology or Image Recognition vendors to improve model accuracy and performance.
  • Background working in consulting or embedded engineering environments.
  • Relevant certifications in AI/ML, Microsoft Azure, or Product Management.
