About the role

We are looking for a Senior PHP Developer to join a project focused on a platform for managing in-person, virtual, and hybrid events.

This is a hands-on role primarily focused on PHP, working with an existing codebase that may include legacy components developed and maintained over several years. We’re looking for someone comfortable working with existing systems, understanding code written by others, solving complex technical issues, and making improvements while maintaining stability and security.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain features for an existing platform using PHP.
• Analyze, maintain, and improve legacy code, identifying opportunities for refactoring and modernization.
• Work with MySQL, including major version upgrades in production environments.
• Identify, analyze, and remediate security findings and vulnerabilities in existing code.
• Investigate technical issues and implement solutions while maintaining platform stability and reliability.
• Collaborate with the team to develop new features and improvements across the platform.
• Contribute to frontend development using Vue.js when needed.
• Work independently within an existing codebase and contribute to technical decisions related to the platform’s evolution.

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience as a Full Stack Engineer.
• 4+ years of professional experience with PHP.
• Strong hands-on experience developing and maintaining applications using core PHP / PHP without relying exclusively on modern frameworks.
• Proven experience working with legacy codebases and long-standing production systems.
• Experience performing a major MySQL version upgrade in production.
• Experience identifying and remediating security findings and vulnerabilities in code developed by others.
• Experience with Vue.js as a complementary frontend skill.
• Strong ability to understand existing code, identify technical issues, and implement solutions independently.
• B2+/ C1 English
• skills.
• Availability for on-call rotation, including occasional after-hours coverage as part of a shared support rotation.

Nice to have

• Experience modernizing or refactoring legacy PHP applications.
• Experience working on systems where production stability and continuity are critical.
• Experience performing production upgrades of application or infrastructure components.
• Familiarity with security scanning tools and vulnerability remediation processes.
