About the role

We're looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to join an integration-heavy environment where you'll build and maintain the APIs, background workers, and integrations that keep critical business processes running.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys going beyond isolated backend services: you'll need to trace data flows across multiple systems, investigate production issues, understand how different components interact, and take ownership of what you ship — from code and infrastructure to logs and observability.

You'll work primarily with TypeScript, Node.js, NestJS, MongoDB, Redis, GCP, and Docker, contributing to a modern backend ecosystem with a strong focus on reliability, scalability, and clean integrations.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain backend services using TypeScript, Node.js, and NestJS.
  • Build and maintain REST APIs, webhooks, and system integrations.
  • Develop and support background workers and asynchronous job-processing workflows.
  • Work with MongoDB and Mongoose for data modeling, persistence, and querying.
  • Use Redis and Bull for caching, queues, and background job processing.
  • Investigate and troubleshoot issues across multiple systems by tracing data flows end-to-end.
  • Contribute to containerized deployments and CI/CD processes using Docker and GCP.
  • Implement and maintain authentication and authorization using OAuth2/JWT patterns.
  • Make pragmatic technical decisions, balancing maintainability, performance, and delivery needs.
  • Collaborate with the team to identify issues, communicate tradeoffs, and continuously improve backend reliability.

Requirements

  • Strong professional experience with TypeScript and Node.js.
  • Solid experience with NestJS or a comparable Node.js backend framework.
  • Production experience working with MongoDB/Mongoose and Redis.
  • Hands-on experience building and consuming REST APIs and webhook-driven architectures.
  • Understanding of OAuth2 and JWT authentication patterns.
  • Experience with CI/CD and containerized deployments.
  • Experience working with Docker and cloud environments.
  • Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to trace issues across multiple systems.
  • Ability to take ownership of backend services, including code, infrastructure, and logs.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to clearly explain technical tradeoffs.
  • Ability to work autonomously in a fast-paced, integration-heavy environment.

Nice to have

  • Experience integrating with Salesforce APIs, including REST and SOQL.
  • Experience working with multi-tenant SaaS platforms.
  • Background in automotive or dealership technology.
  • Experience with Google Cloud Platform, particularly Cloud Run and Cloud SQL.
