About the role

We’re looking for a Full stack Software Engineer with strong web fundamentals to build and evolve high-quality web experiences and the backend systems that support them.

This is not a React-only role. We’re looking for someone who understands how the web works at a fundamental level, can translate designs into highly accurate and performant interfaces, and is equally comfortable working on backend services, APIs, integrations, and infrastructure.

You’ll work closely with an experienced technical team, take ownership of meaningful product initiatives, and have the opportunity to grow your technical scope and responsibility over time.

Responsibilities

Build high-quality web applications using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and React or Preact, with a strong focus on performance, responsiveness, and visual accuracy.
Translate designs into polished, responsive interfaces that remain consistent across screen sizes and devices.
Work with browser rendering, web performance, Core Web Vitals, and vanilla JavaScript when needed.
Build and maintain backend services with Node.js, APIs, integrations, background jobs, cron jobs, and queues.
Work with PostgreSQL and Redis to build reliable and scalable applications.
Work with server-rendered templates and template engines, including Shopify Liquid when applicable.
Deploy and operate applications using Google Cloud Platform.
Collaborate with technical leaders and stakeholders to understand requirements, make technical decisions, and deliver features end-to-end.
Present your work, explain technical decisions, and communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Use AI tools thoughtfully as part of your development workflow while maintaining ownership of code quality, maintainability, documentation, and technical decisions.

Requirements

Strong professional experience with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, beyond framework-specific development.
Solid experience with React or Preact.
Strong understanding of browser behavior, responsive design, web performance, and Core Web Vitals.
Demonstrated ability to implement designs with a high level of visual accuracy and attention to detail.
Solid experience with Node.js and backend development.
Experience building and integrating APIs and working with relational databases.
Hands-on experience with PostgreSQL, Redis, background jobs, cron jobs, and queues.
Experience deploying or operating applications on Google Cloud Platform.
Understanding of server-rendered applications and template engines.
Strong conversational English, with the ability to participate in client meetings, present work, and explain technical concepts clearly.
Proactive mindset, strong ownership, attention to detail, and willingness to receive and act on feedback.

Nice to have

Shopify development experience, particularly with Shopify themes, Liquid, APIs, or Shopify Apps.
2+ years working within the Shopify ecosystem.
Experience working with Preact.
Experience working directly with clients or business stakeholders.
Experience using AI coding tools as part of a structured engineering workflow.
