About the role

We are looking for a Full Stack Software Engineer with a strong backend orientation to join a fast-growing technology company at a pivotal stage of its growth.

This is an early engineering hire in Latin America, with significant ownership and the opportunity to work closely with the founding team. You will help build and scale complex data-intensive systems, working across web applications, backend services, and infrastructure.

The role is ideal for an engineer who enjoys solving ambiguous problems, making technical decisions, and taking systems from early stages through scale.

Responsibilities

Build and scale complex data-capturing and data-intensive workflows across web applications and backend systems.
Design, implement, and optimize high-throughput systems and data pipelines handling significant workloads.
Build reliable distributed systems using technologies such as messaging, caching, search, asynchronous processing, and serverless infrastructure.
Work across the stack, with a strong focus on backend engineering, infrastructure, scalability, and system reliability.
Collaborate directly with the founding team to shape product direction, technical decisions, and engineering practices.
Take ownership of technical problems from definition through implementation, iteration, and scale.
Help establish strong engineering foundations and best practices as the technical team grows.

Requirements

5+ years of professional software engineering experience, with strong hands-on experience building production systems
We value the depth and trajectory of your experience over a specific number of years.
Strong experience with Python and JavaScript/TypeScript, with the ability to work across the stack.
Backend-oriented experience building scalable, data-intensive, or distributed applications.
Experience designing or optimizing high-throughput systems, data pipelines, asynchronous workflows, or other systems operating at significant scale.
Experience with cloud infrastructure and serverless technologies, particularly AWS or GCP.
Familiarity with technologies such as Redis, Elasticsearch, Kafka, RabbitMQ, or comparable tools for caching, search, messaging, and distributed systems.
Experience working in early-stage or high-growth startups, ideally in product-focused engineering teams.
A strong ownership mindset and the ability to operate independently in ambiguous, fast-moving environments.
Strong English communication skills and experience collaborating effectively with US-based teams.

Nice to have

Experience as a founding or early engineer in a startup.
Experience building products or systems from 0→1 and later scaling them as usage and complexity grew.
Strong academic background in Computer Science or a related field.
Meaningful open-source contributions, a strong GitHub profile, or other personal engineering projects.
Experience working closely with founders or very small engineering teams.
