About the role

We are looking for a Senior Cloud Solutions Architect to design and evolve cloud architectures capable of scaling from early-stage implementations to enterprise-level platforms supporting tens of thousands of users. In this role, you will take ownership of key architectural decisions across AWS, distributed systems, scalability, performance, security, and resilience. You will design strategies for caching, multi-region deployments, data federation, and access control while ensuring the platform remains reliable, secure, observable, and cost-effective across different geographies. The ideal candidate combines strong hands-on cloud architecture expertise with a consulting and solution-focused mindset, strong technical leadership, and the ability to communicate complex architectural decisions to both technical and business stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Design and evolve AWS cloud architectures capable of supporting enterprise-scale platforms and tens of thousands of users
• Evaluate the scalability and performance of PostgreSQL/Supabase-based backends and define appropriate architectural improvements.
• Design caching strategies, multi-region architectures, and global data federation to ensure performance and resilience across geographies.
• Define and own load-testing strategies and responsiveness targets for distributed systems.
• Design security and access-control architectures for sensitive content and enterprise environments.
• Define non-functional requirements related to availability, resilience, scalability, cost, performance, and observability.
• Produce architecture diagrams, Architecture Decision Records (ADRs), technical standards, and supporting documentation.
• Guide and mentor engineering teams on cloud architecture, best practices, and scalable design patterns.
• Partner with Security and Compliance teams to ensure architectures meet enterprise security and regulatory requirements.
• Evaluate technologies and support build-vs-buy decisions based on technical, business, scalability, and cost considerations.
• Contribute to architectural reviews, technical strategy, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Collaborate with engineering, security, product, and other stakeholders throughout the software development lifecycle.

Requirements

• 8+ years of professional software engineering experience, including at least 3+ years in cloud architecture or solutions architecture roles.
• Strong hands-on experience designing and implementing AWS cloud architectures in production environments.
• Proven experience designing high-scale, low-latency, multi-region distributed systems.
• Strong understanding of scalability, caching strategies, data federation, performance optimization, and load testing.
• Experience designing security architectures, including RBAC and ABAC access-control models.
• Solid experience with Infrastructure as Code, particularly Terraform and/or CloudFormation.
• Hands-on knowledge of Docker and Kubernetes in cloud environments.
• Strong understanding of AWS networking, IAM, cost optimization, monitoring, and observability.
• Experience working with relational databases, particularly PostgreSQL, and cloud-based data platforms.
• Ability to define and communicate architectural standards, technical decisions, and non-functional requirements.
• Strong technical leadership, stakeholder management, and communication skills.
• Ability to work autonomously within established enterprise engineering processes and quickly understand complex environments.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

Nice to have

• AWS Solutions Architect Professional or equivalent cloud architecture certification.
• Experience with Supabase at scale.
• Experience designing global architectures with advanced caching and federation patterns.
• Experience with enterprise security, compliance, and regulated environments.
• Previous experience working in technology consulting or client-facing environments.
• Experience in Life Sciences, Healthcare, or Pharmaceutical industries.
• Experience mentoring senior engineering teams and driving architectural transformation.
• Strong understanding of cloud cost optimization and FinOps practices
